Music

One thing we do at each meeting is to sing the national anthems of Canada, Norway, and the US. The words and music are below. There is also a choral version of the Norwegian national anthem for example pronunciations, for which we thank Gus Stangland at www.norskland.com.

O Canada! Our home and native land!
True patriot love in all thy sons command.
With glowing hearts we see thee rise
The True North strong and free;
And stand on guard, O Canada,
We stand on guard for thee!

Chorus:

O Canada! Glorious and free!
We stand on guard
We stand on guard for thee.
O Canada! We stand on guard for thee.

This is the 2 verse version that is played every New Year's eve on Norwegian television. )
Ja, vi elsker dette landet,
som det stiger frem
furet, værbitt over vannet
med de tusen hjem,
elsker, elsker det og tenker
på vår far og mor

Chorus:

og den saganatt som senker
drømme på vår jord.
og den saganatt som senker
drømme på vår jord.

US National Anthem

O say can you see, by the dawn's early light,
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming,
Whose broad stripes and bright stars through the perilous fight
O'er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming?
And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.
O say does that star spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free, and the home of the brave.
